Eller MBA and McGuire attend Private Equity Summit

Earlier this month, I joined a group of students from Eller MBA and McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship to the University Private Equity Summit held at the University of Utah located in Salt Lake City. Our goal was to learn about the important role private equity plays in nurturing entrepreneurship and growing businesses. Studies show that where you find healthy entrepreneurs and strong start-ups is where you will also find a healthy private equity market.

The University Private Equity Summit is hosted by the University Venture Fund (UVF). Founded in 2001, UVF is the leading student-run venture capital fund with $18 million under management and more student associates than any other fund in the world. UVF bridges the gap between the classroom and the real-world of private equity investing.

Eller MBA and McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship were well represented at the event with a total of 10 students from The University of Arizona in attendance. Representing both the Eller MBA and the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship programs were Kevin Pieters and myself, Micky Thompson. Other Eller MBA’s attending were Forrest Branch, Ryan Michelson, Dale Prentiss and Lawrence Trujillo. Joining also from the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship program were Nathan Canright, Joshua Kay, Carmen Lamadrid and Richard Cody Nicholls.

Watch the video we put together to share with you our experiences, sights and sounds from the summit…
