Why The University of Arizona Eller MBA?
This post marks the one year anniversary of this blog and I greatly appreciate all the readers who have come here to learn about my experiences over the last 12 months. I officially started this blog in June 2008 when my wife and I made the decision to relocate from Tennessee to Arizona for me to attend The University of Arizona Eller MBA. This blog has served to help us communicate with you, our friends and family, our experiences over the last 12 months and we look forward to sharing more with you over the next 12 months.
In my last blog post, I shared with you the actual contents of my backpack while attending classes here at The University of Arizona Eller MBA in an effort to offer you some insight into the tools I use to survive and thrive here at Eller MBA. I greatly appreciate the positive feedback I received regarding that post. This month, I will build on that post and share with you why we chose The University of Arizona and the Eller MBA full-time program. Next month, I will go further in this series to share with you more about The University of Arizona and how it differs from other universities in Arizona. Be sure to stay tuned.
Some of you have asked “Micky, you have worked in the Internet and technology industry over the last few years. Why didn’t you attend an online MBA program?”
Great question. My wife and I agreed about 18 months ago that a full-time traditional MBA program would best serve me because I enjoy interacting with others and we have been blessed with the resources allowing me the opportunity to dedicate myself full-time to the MBA educational process.
By attending full-time and onsite as part of a traditional MBA program, my learning process has been greatly enhanced by the exposure to the experiences of my talented and smart MBA colleagues. While all the MBA students have similar likes and passions related to business, each of us have very unique, diverse and very different backgrounds.
The Eller MBA full-time program has a surprisingly global student body with international students representing China, Great Britain, Russia, Africa, India, Nepal, Taiwan and American students from all the different regions of the United States. I along with a couple of other southern-drawl speaking students proudly represent the Southeast.
The primary reason my wife and I selected The University of Arizona Eller MBA was because the program has been consistently ranked as one of the world’s top Entrepreneurship MBA programs (the entrepreneurship program at Eller MBA has been ranked higher than both Harvard and Stanford, each top tier schools for Entrepreneurship). I have a deep passion for Entrepreneurship and The University of Arizona Eller MBA has provided me the opportunity to study among the world’s smartest and most respected entrepreneurs.
Was The University of Arizona Eller MBA worth my wife, 2 year old daughter, 3 lb teacup poodle and myself moving over 2,000 miles from middle Tennessee to Tucson, Arizona to attend? We couldn’t imagine being anywhere else!
